Schedule: April 14 & 28, May 12 & 26, June 9 & 23, 2012 (all Saturdays)
Location: Mainly the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum Art Study Room (Exchange Wing 2nd Floor)
Content: Emphasis will be placed on contents such as such as discussion, experience and practical application as well as lectures, beginning with the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and related to the art museums in general and art communication. Participants will also learn about ways of speaking and listening necessary for activities, as well as hospitality, etc.

1: Orientation

【Location】 Art Study Room
【Purpose】 To confirm the schedule and rules, etc. going forward and then prepare for the activities. The aim is also communication among TOBIRAs while preparing programs produced by Katsuhiko Hibino associated with the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum Renovation Memorial Ceremony.

【Location】 Art Study Room
【Purpose】 To learn the power of listening from one another to build interpersonal relationships in the TOBI Gateway Project

3:Envisioning the Art Museum of the Day After Tomorrow

【Time】 May 12 (Saturday) 10AM – 3PM
【Location】 Art Study Room, locations throughout the Museum
【Purpose】 Based on such topics as hospitality toward art viewers and issues art museums face, the purpose is to learn what new art museums strive toward and what type of art museum is currently in demand. Through a workshop, participants will also draw and think about the art museum of the future.

4:Thinking About Creating a Learning Environment

【Time】 May 26 (Saturday) 10AM – 3PM
【Location】 Art Study Room, locations throughout the Museum
【Purpose】 To learn about issues such as designing an “art viewing” learning environment and the present status of learning through art viewing which are spreading nationwide.

5:Researching how TOBIRA Works

【Time】 June 9 (Saturday) 10AM – 3PM
【Location】 Art Study Room
【Purpose】 Participants will consider where and how TOBIRAs can act through group work in a single five-hour session. All are required to bring bento lunches.
【Content】 ・Actual examples of volunteers working on art projects, etc..
・What is the type of Art Community created by volunteer staff?
・What are the results of TOBIRA activities?

6:Planning for Practical Application

【Location】 Art Study Room
【Purpose】 To confirm the Practical Application Course schedule which begin in July, and decide on the programs that each person will manage. Consider collaboration with classes and events (intensive courses, art festivals, graduation project exhibitions, etc.) taking place at Tokyo University of the Arts.
